ABOUT ME

A little tidbit about me. I love what I do!  Photography is my passion and I make that shine in my work.  I try to stay away from the typical and am always on the hunt for new ideas, techniques, props, and interesting people!

On Christmas Day of 2008, I unwrapped a box with a brand new camera, but what I didn't realize then was that I was also unwrapping my dreams. I ventured into the world of photography. I started taking pictures of everything; landscapes, knickknacks, the neighbor’s dog & cat, even the birds in the parks.  I just fell in love I then moved on to family, friends and their children.  I took a deep breath and with little experience, no training, but a lot of heart, I set out to become a photographer...and that's precisely what happened.

I very quickly discovered that my gift and passion was in feminine portraiture. I fell in love with capturing artistic beauty and producing images that changed the way women felt about themselves. I am entirely devoted to creating an amazing experience for you, improving my skills as an artist, and keeping my studio and equipment fresh to give you the best possible images.

Being a woman in today's culture isn't always easy. We all want to feel beautiful, but we're surrounded by media messages telling us we need to be more. Articles online tell us how often we need to exercise and how often we need to eat. We need coconut oil, vitamin E, fake tanners, hair removers, lotions, eye cream, and the list goes on... and on.. and on... Oh, and it all has to be organic.

Here's the thing. We're beautiful just the way we are. Whether we're in the best physical shape of our lives, post baby or we're trying to embrace some extra curves, we're all fighting the same battle: to love ourselves and show our husbands or soon-to-be husbands that we love and think of them often, too.

That's what these sessions are about. It's one of the most amazing gifts you can give to him. It lets him know you thought about something he would love, and the album serves as a gorgeous reminder of the amazing, confident woman he married. Plus, you get to enjoy a day of pampering with hair and makeup and just the right amount of bubbly.

I try to do all my pictures so they are tasteful and psychologically and artistically interesting. Facial expression and body language play more of a part in making these pictures look great than does your figure or mere outward appearance. Few women feel they are attractive enough to look good in these kinds of pictures until they see the finished product; most then say the pictures look so beautiful "I can't believe that is me." Almost all the women who have come in for boudoir pictures said they were really nervous and had never done anything like this before and that they almost did not keep the appointment or wished they had had a bottle of wine, but they became comfortable after just the first couple of pictures. Virtually everyone said, either during or after the photography session that they were surprisingly comfortable and that it was really fun.

The best part of my day is when I reveal the images I create to my clients. Most were astonished at how good their pictures looked, and how beautiful they were in them, even before any retouching.  Many women have said this was the first time they ever saw themselves as attractive. It is really neat to prove to women who are not at all supposedly desirable by Madison Avenue standards that they are not only sexy looking but quite beautiful. Hearing “is that me?!” and all the smiles, laughter, and tears that follow are why this is my mission: to make the world a better place — each happy, confident woman at a time. Contrary to popular opinion, these kinds of pictures depend for their success far more on your attitude than on your shape or age. If you simply want to look sexy, you will look sexy in my pictures.

My other photography passions are weddings and portraits. They are such happy and special occasions and having the opportunity to be a part of a couple’s special day is a joy and a privilege. Being able to capture memories and experience a variety of cultures, traditions and wonderful people is definitely a perk of my job.   I believe a big part of being a photographer is making you and your clients feel comfortable in front of the camera. My relaxed and friendly style enables you to enjoy being photographed and us to create great images together. Each of the fleeting moments that I capture during each and every event and portrait session speaks to my heart as a creative artist.

I also have the greatest fiancé ever who is my best friend and my worst critic. He never settles for mediocrity and he is always pushing me to be a better photographer. He is a builder and has helped me with making multiple props and setups as well as allowing me to turn our home into my photography studio.  Our children are furry, clingy, needy, overly lovable and each has four legs...our dogs Bailey & Eve.

I find that photography is not just about having a natural eye behind the camera; picking out the right angle; or just magically getting exposures correct.  Photography is about knowing the location, the light, the subject and enhancing all of them in the process.

Customer service is also very important to me. As a consumer, I hate feeling blown off, brushed aside or made to feel less than important. I like to treat each and every client like they are my friend and by doing so creating, not only capturing, more natural interactions but also producing better images.  It’s crucial to me to give my clients to best possible customer service. If I’m available today, I might be booked tomorrow. My dates book up quickly so please don’t hesitate to call me at 508-864-7577 or email me at anangelseyephotography@gmail.com to inquire about your date and session

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to hear from you soon.

Warmly,

Melanie
